Simon wrote this play after he saw his brother Danny and theatrical agent Roy
Gerber living together after recent divorces. In the play Felix Ungar, a
neurotic, neat-freak newspaper writer is thrown out by his wife and moves in
with Oscar Madison, a slovenly sportswriter. Toss in the poker buddies, Murray,
Roy, Speed, and Vinnie and the upstairs neighbors Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon
and you have the ingredients for a fine evening of laughter and entertainment.
